The Bickley Dam Free Summer Splash

Weekend Sat 16 - Sun 17 Feb 2019

(online registration at the end of this page)

The Bickley Camp is reserved for community groups only. It is therefore a unique chance to access this dam and swim without getting a salty mouth.

An exciting event for all members, families and seniors

The Swiss Club is happy to announce a great weekend at this fresh water destination. Just imagine a hot summer day and lovely 28 to 30 degrees water temperature for an extended swim! Wow!

Here is how we may spend the time: Overnighters, campers or tents can begin the weekend on Saturday in the early afternoon, have a swim and start getting the camp gear in place. For the temperature critical food there is also a big fridge available. This will keep your valuable steaks in shape.

Members who prefer to enjoy the facilities on Saturday or/and Sunday without staying overnight are of course very welcome to do so. While the overnighters will be able to sample some fine glasses of wine (without having any traffic problems thereafter), and a BYO dinner in company of old and new friends, they will also be able to take in the relaxing atmosphere of the summer evening in this unique valley. In the morning before the BYO breakfast we can venture on an early walk along the Mason and Bird Heritage Trail (about 90 minutes incl. return) to Victoria dam and back. This was the first dam built about 1891 in the Perth area to secure a cleaner water supply. We will also cross a wooden bridge built in the 1860’s. It is believed to be Australia’s oldest all wooden bridge.

The rest of the day, games, swimming and happy chats and just relaxing in natural shade can continue. Your own paddle boats, swimming mattresses, all gear that has no engine is allowed to be used.

This event is free for Swiss club members. Non members will have to pay a fee according to the WA government price list, that is: For overnight campers $ 25 per adult and $ 10.50 per child, for day stay $ 4.50 per person. The Bickley Camp is reserved for community groups only. It is therefore a unique chance to access this dam and swim without getting a salty mouth.

We are looking forward to seeing you all there!
