2016 Easter Picnic in Gidgegannup

Review:  2016 - What an Easter Picnic!

On Easter Sunday totally 76 participants showed up at the Gidgegannup Swiss Club property to enjoy some swiss Easter fun. All participants, including the 37 kids proved, that one can defy grey and chilly weather! As it was raining the two days before, we were happy with some rain drizzles only on Sunday. Around 25 really brave ones camped on the property from friday or saturday onwards, some even stayed until monday.

After a warm welcome by the president and some news concerning the upcoming events (see more detailed information on the homepage) the Easter Picnic was about to start with the traditional and especially for the kids thrilling Easter egg hunt. Yellow shot cups were hidden all around the property and were to be swapped into – not any kind of chocolate ester bunnies – but the famous swiss gold easter bunnies from Lindt (of course;-))!

After this first exciting attraction one could calm down by doing some Easter egg painting with Agnes. And yes, especially among the youngsters we can expect some new masters of arts, as some terrific easter eggs paintings were generated! But no painted Easter egg wasn’t too good not to be smashed during the ‚Eiertütsche’, a real Swiss thing. When you browse the photos of the event you see a smiling lady, her egg was just unbeatable, lucky Agnes.

While some of the praticipants then slowly but surely started a cosy BBQ, others were about to play Pétanque with Pétanque master Aldo, to try Javelin throwing with Phil or playing a Jass with Agnes. Some even tried a short badminton paly, but the wind was definitely playing against them;-) Furthermore a crew of toddlers was very happy and busy playing for almost hours with an old trolley, which they pulled around the property. How good it was to see all these smiling children faces! A special thank you goes to some bigger girls (Kyra, Rochelle & Co.), who went around with baskets for donations and to count the attendees. All in all once more it was a great event, where young and older ones melted together smoothly. Yes, the Swiss Club has a very diversified aged range.

The president used the opportunity to introduce the committee to everybody. Furthermore Richard and Simon surprised us with a spontaneous Alphorn blowing gig which was absolutely awesome in the middle of the australian bush – thank you guys!

In that very moment, you could feel why people say that the Swiss Property in Gidgegannup is a separat Kanton of Switzerland, because you felt like being back home in Switzerland.

Easter 2017 can come! There are already some new ideas fort he next year’s Easter event: a pig on the spit! But anyway, there will be a great next Easter Picnic again with attractions for everybody.

Thank you to everybody who was involved in this unforgettable Easter Picnic!
