Review Santa 2015

Santa and his two Schmutzlis have arrived at 2 pm and got straight away the full attention of the 61 kids from baby age to high school students, who knew that their name might be called out by Santa. Amazing how Santa knew explicite details about their behavior of the last year and what might be appropriate changes for the future. It took about 1 hour and 20 Minutes for Santa to talk to each child including the photo shoot at end. The kids will certainly talk about their experience with Santa with a spark in their eyes for weeks to come, as well as the parents.

More then 220 participants (raincoat at hand) were attending the Santa event on a day, which was starting with a lot of rain, but after 11 oclock no more showers disturbed us. The event team set up the bbq and decorated the place of the gathering with the Flags from all the Swiss Cantons. Quicker then we thought, all the sausages from Reto the Swiss Butcher and the hazelnut croissants from JeanClaude Bakery were sold out. Luckily some volunteers brought cakes and tarts to enrichen the provided food, nevertheless they were gone even quicker.

The Alphorn blowers played us some nice tunes and Richard started to sing traditional folklorik Swiss Songs 'Die Breme' and more so.  Then the duo of Sergio (Harmonika) and his fellow (Guitar) started to play by wondering around to the different groups of the gathering and gave us a taste of some Italian canzoni. They entertained the audience beautifully. Some Kids had their first contact during the second Alphorn Blower session with the Alphorn what was very attractive to watch. We never know if that sparked a musical talent to develop.

The ambiance was filled with joy and everybody was relaxed to have a chat to get to know each other. Common interests were discovered and friendships arised. Traditionally the most mature meets the youngest members of the Swiss Club. The helpers who did the bags for Santa were led by Isabelle Hampton. Sandra Joshua and the other members did a remarkable job to produce all the bags together with the members of the Swiss Club Committee. Agnes Villemain was very happy to have found a successor for this intense preparations and to hand over her famous recipe of the Gingerbread (Lebkuchen) for the Santa Event.

The nature of the Swiss Club to promote the fellowship and the Swiss Traditions to the members and friends of the Swiss Club reached its peak. It was amazing to see all the young families with their children popping up for this event. On this occasion I like to encourage members and friends of the Swiss Club to step forward to
indicate their possible engagement to become members of the committe or to propose wishes for new future activities.
