Easter Picnic 2017

Sunday 16 of April in Gidgegannup

2017 Review – Easter Egg Hunt

“It was a windy night for the campers in tent-city in Gidgegannup”' was the first words that reached the ear of the president when he arrived to see about 15 tents covering more then 2/3 of the soccer ground on the property. Straight away secondly mentioned was “ the Sandpit was in steady use since Friday and has now the best fitting tarps”.

At about 11.30 Lorenz did welcome the participants and could introduce 5 new families. They were warmly welcomed to the Swiss society by the Swiss Fellows witnessing how they introduced themselves and their children. As it is important to know to whom the children belong. Never missed was the place of origin back from Switzerland to be mentioned.

“its great to see you all!” The new members here today:

  • Thomas & Ayanne Dellenbach
  • Pascal aund Claudia Schrader
  • Meris Franz
  • Corinne & Phil
  • Aurelia & Jason
  • Thomas & Ayanna
  • Nicole and Steve (late newcomers)

We are steadily approaching the new milestone of 300 members. We trust to celebrate that occurrence latest by the 1st of August this year!

40th anniversary of the Swiss Club
Here we stand today because of the hard work of the fellows Swiss of the last 40 years. Thanks to all of you, who hold in strength the soul of the Swiss Club on their shoulders and promote Swiss fellowship among the members to feel on a day like this, at home and at heart a moment in Switzerland.

Today is a day of perfection, why?
Because our membership list is nearly in perfect order.

Thanks to a consolidation over the last few month and this cups. Karl and Peter delivered to all the members. Do you know your number? 1239 is mine, but I and the committee members we can not win. That increases massively your chance to win, you just need to read the newsletter. One of the main Sponsor is Reto the Swiss Butcher in Bassendean. We do a fair deal. 50/50. We pay $25 and ask the sponsor to double the amount mentioned on the voucher. So you get $50 worth of a voucher.

Egg-Colouring
Agnes provided the gear and the kids started to put in their best perfomance the color on the eggs. Noticably good behavior was the reason that no faces or cloth were showing new coloful patterns.

The Petanque fun Tournament – Sue is a spectacular tournament host!
The Petanque fun tournament was the main attraction. Everybody watched when not a participant. Sue as a host and coordinator of the tournament included the spectators to cheer according to the outcome of the Petanque ball throwing of the athletes. This year 3 gentlemen did win and the Easter bunnies became second. A great thank you to Karl and to Sue for the Petanque pitch and the coordination.

The Egg-smashing competition was claimed to be won by various participants and due to inclairity of the winner, needs to be repeated next year.

The Easter Egg hunt
After the counting of the present children a loud go let them run into to bush to go and find the gumtree nuts covered in alu-foil to trade them back to get a Lindt choc bunny. From 30 hidden silver coins we have received 29 back. Therefore one is still hidden in the woods of the outback in Gidgegannup and will be found next year.

A group of men disappeared behind the barn – BYO your own Bobcat will happen next!

Karl did do a sketch in the hard gravel to indicate where the new parking area will be located. All 5 men did have a good luck to see how this earth work could be done to create the parking area as we have discussed and agreed on it during the AGM. There will be a busy-bee and we hope somebody has a bobcat or connection to hire one or two of this machines to clear the area. We like to be ready for the Swiss National day.

At 3pm Lorenz did the closing of the event and gave the winners of the Petanque tournament the prizes. Just after that Nicole and Phil arrived, newcomers and they got the tour around the property and were introduced to all present. Agnes and Noldi had a lovely chat with them until Karl presented them their mugs as welcome presents.

Slowly the packing up started and the Swiss fellows who did not camp disappeared with a lovely Swiss feeling in their heart in all 4 directions of the wind.

22 kids, 10 minors and about 60 adults were present.

Online registration closing of the booking 7 of April 2017 (midnight)
